When I first started planning this trip, the schedule was pretty loose. Go when the weather starts to improve and stay until after the Goodwood Revival in September. Round about six months ought to do it. Find a cozy place to call home in a village with a pub. Things have progressed….things have gotten more complicated and at the same time more exciting.
So here’s a summary of the game plan at this point:
First of April: Arrive in the UK, move into the cottage (see another post for details) and arrange for the delivery of the Jag ASAP. Wife Cindi will be there for a couple of weeks to help stock the fridge and get settled in.
April 15: XK Club Spring Meet – Denbies
April 20-22: Jaguar Driver’s Club Meet – Hampshire
April 23-26: Backwater Tours Suffolk Tour
April 28-29: Reading Beer Festival
May 13-16 Backwater Tours Snowdonia Tour
May 29 – June 24: Austin Healey Club European Tour and European Healey Club Meet (see another post for details)
July 8: Beaulieu Simply Jaguar Day, New Forest
July 20-22: Silverstone Classis Historic Races – Silverstone
August: Self- Guided ‘Round Ireland Tour
September 2 – 5: Backwater Tours Cornwall Tour
September 6-9: Goodwood Revival – Goodwood (joined by Frank and Jean Gauer and Patti Fox)
September 10-21: Across the Channel and wandering through France and maybe across the Pyrenees, eventually ending in Florence, Italy
September 22-30: Classics on the Road Tuscany Tour
September 30 – 3: Pick up daughter Brook from her Tuscan Women Cook adventure and spend a couple days wandering the Adriatic coastline.
September 4: Drop the Jag in Genoa for the trip back, head to Rome and HOME!
